Donations

The Hartshorne Community Center will play an important role in our small town of approximately 1800 residents as well as Haileyville, Gowen and Jones Academy.

In its hay day this area was bustling, and like many towns in the U.S. children played outside.  There were activities like little league, scouting, community picnics etc. The schools offered Drama and Art etc.

In the last 25 years children turned to electronics for entertainment. They spend hours isolated, not engaging in physical activity, creativity or in person socialization. Covid has left many students behind academically. We plan to have a new innovative program that combines physical activity and academic skill building! We will also host creative arts, sport camps and other enhancement opportunities.

As in many places in the U.S. people with nothing to do are sometimes drawn to unhealthy and dangerous activities.

Because we are 20-30 minutes from the closest toddler and parent classes, we have mothers that are also isolated and lacking the important support that are available in such groups. Single and older people stay home, isolated also.  They too need socialization, opportunities to volunteer, play games, to be involved and feel useful.

Many people need help completing paperwork, finding resources; our office will provide assistance along with a safe place for their children to play so the parent can focus on the important business they need help with.

The economic downturn has taken its toll on our little town. With a 22% poverty rate, we need help from donors locally and from afar . With your help, we can offer low and no cost activities and support to  community members of all ages.  This is not just a place to play. It’s a place to learn, engage, grow, share and support the needs of the individuals of all ages.  Your donation will significantly impact the wellbeing of our community.
